⏳ Deadline: TV Time shuts down after July 15, 2026 β€” all user data is deleted afterward, and none of the steps below work anymore. Do this today.

How to export your TV Time data (complete guide)

Updated July 5, 2026 Β· verified against the live export tool

TL;DR: β‘  Download your official export at gdpr.tvtime.com/gdpr/self-service (a ZIP of CSV files). β‘‘ Also export with the TV Time Out extension β€” it captures exact dates and rewatches the official export truncates. β‘’ Drop both into ShowRescue to merge them into one permanent archive and convert to any other app. Free, nothing uploads.

Step 1 β€” The official GDPR export (do this first)

  1. Go to gdpr.tvtime.com/gdpr/self-service.
  2. Sign in with your TV Time email and password.
Signed up with Facebook or Google? Use the password reset link on that page with your account's email first β€” the export tool has no social login.
  3. Click β€œGenerate GDPR Data”. The page checks progress every few seconds β€” generation takes minutes normally, up to hours under the current rush. If it gets stuck, refresh and retry later (your request stays queued).
  4. Click Download when it's ready. You get gdpr-data.zip β€” a ZIP of ~50 CSV files. The important ones are tracking-prod-records-v2.csv (your episode history), tracking-prod-records.csv (movies), followed_tv_show.csv, lists-prod-lists.csv (your lists and favorites) and comments-prod-comments.csv (your own comments).
Keep the ZIP as-is β€” don't unzip and re-zip it. Some importers (like Trakt's) want the original file. And be careful where you upload it: the ZIP also contains sensitive account data. Only use tools that process it locally in your browser.

Step 2 β€” The extension export (captures what the official one misses)

The official export truncates old dated history on large libraries: your per-show totals are there, but exact watch dates for older episodes can be missing. Browser extensions read your full history from the live site β€” but they die with TV Time on July 15, so do this now:

  1. Install TV Time Out (Chrome/Edge) β€” or TV Time Liberator, either works.
  2. Open app.tvtime.com and log in.
  3. Click the extension and export β€” you'll get files like tvtime-series-2026-07-05.json, tvtime-movies-…, tvtime-lists-… with exact watch dates, rewatch counts, favorites and lists.

Step 3 β€” Turn the files into something permanent

ShowRescue (free, no account) reads every format above in your browser β€” nothing is uploaded. Drop in both exports and it:

Frequently asked

How long does the export take right now?

Minutes when quiet, hours under load. Some users report stuck exports during the rush β€” retry, and grab the extension export while you wait. Don't leave it to July 14.

Is my whole history in the official export?

Watch counts per show: yes. Exact dates for every old episode: not always β€” that's the truncation issue. The extension export fills those gaps, which is exactly why ShowRescue merges both.

Are my comments and lists saved?

Yes. Comments are in comments-prod-comments.csv; custom lists and your favorites live in lists-prod-lists.csv. ShowRescue preserves both (favorites become flags, comments go into your keepsake).

What happens after July 15?

TV Time's apps and website go offline and all account data is deleted β€” the official notice says so explicitly. Export links and extensions stop working. Files you already downloaded keep working in ShowRescue forever.

Is ShowRescue really private?

Yes β€” parsing happens entirely in your browser; your files never touch a server. The only optional upload is if you choose to reserve your library in TatoTime (a parsed summary to your own private account, never the raw files).
